I have just been watching Liverpool 5 Forest 0 on youtube (again). Its really depressing to think we have no one of the excitement and quality of Barnes and beardsley in the team, or have had since the 80`s. Yes we have had great players ,mostly strikers Ironicly (as we havnt got a 20 goal a season one now). I was really hopefull of real quality players coming in this summer ,but I dont like the sounds coming out of the club right now. I feel Rafa frustration ,and just hope he gets who he wants soon.

Agree with everything you said but when you consider Forest were then, by a fair distance if i remember correctly, the second best team in the land doesn't it make you realise how good you have to be now to be up there now. That Forest team was made up of a couple of really good players like Pearce(?), Hodge, Walker etc but that was complemented by Chettle,Laws,Chapman et al . Some of these players wouldn't get in any PL side now. Good as they were our old teams didn't have anything like the competition there is now. I think we all sometimes overlook that fact.Originally posted by Riddler View PostI have just been watching Liverpool 5 Forest 0 on youtube (again). Very true. I've an avi of that whole game, watched it a few times recently, and in athletic terms, football has moved on an awful lot. That's not to say that the likes of Barnes and Beardsley wouldn't have been world class players today, but they would also have been facing a lot more competition than they were back then. There is no doubt that there are a lot more decent teams now, and the best ones are just so strong that they wouldn't get to play like that as much as they did.Originally posted by wavydavy View PostAgree with everything you said but when you consider Forest were then, by a fair distance if i remember correctly, the second best team in the land doesn't it make you realise how good you have to be now to be up there now. I think we will bring in a genuinely creative and exciting player this summer. Rafa isn't stupid, and if we are ever to win the Premiership, we do need that something special we've been missing in that area. Tevez would do it.
I could not dig, I dared not rob:
Therefore I lied to please the mob.
Now all my lies are proved untrue
And I must face the men I slew.
What tale shall serve me here among
Mine angry and defrauded young?
